Notes from Adobe installer management
As I mentioned recently, I asked some of the Adobe staff responsible for designing, building, and managing the company's installers to provide feedback on the concerns and criticisms we've heard regarding CS3 and CS4. In this post's extended entry, first Barry Hills & then Eric Wilde from the Suite engineering group share their thoughts. --J. (translate)
Planning Ahead: Resilient Load Variations in Distributed Stream Processing
This post is part of a series of posts relating to distributed system design that I'm completing as part of my Computer Science MS program at BYU. Background Stream processing systems are used to process data and provide low latency data derived from source streams. Good examples of this processing include stock market updates, highway traffic data, and network traffic analysis. Stream processing systems take a stream of data and run it through a series of operations. Most of these operations perform data conversions or calculations/reductions of the source data. The final result is either a new data stream or (translate)
Use ThunderBolt in Cairngorm application to log messages and debug
Here’s a tip regarding logging messages in Cairngorm application. I would recommend using ThunderBolt with Mozilla firebug. ThunderBolt is a light weight logging mechanism and very simple to implement; on every user gesture add a logger message during the following methods: execute, result and fault. To use ThunderBolt just place the ThunderBolt swc in [...] (translate)

Meeting Schedule for Holidays
No Regular Meeting Scheduled for November and December due to Holidays However, At the last meeting we discussed only having one, more informal, party instead of a meeting. I propose we just meet at Boondoggles, a local pub on NASA Parkway, for happy hour on December 11, 4:30-?. Our sponsor, Fusionpage.com, will purchase the first couple pictures of beer and we'll be giving away up to $2400 in Adobe software just in time for Christmas! Only speakers from the July-Oct meetings are eligible for the drawing. Please comment if you like the idea of meeting at Boondoggles or if you (translate)
No Adobe booth at Macworld Expo 2009
Adobe is forgoing a booth on the floor of Macworld Expo, but will instead focus it's energies on education and demo sessions. This almost makes sense to me, as CS4 was just released -- I'm sure that there will be spots on the floor to actually purchase boxes? There will be a full day of CS4 demos. It is a little curious, as the Mac community is large for Adobe's creative products. Perhaps they are focusing dollars on MAX initiatives. JD, could you chime in? (translate)
